I am 100% for a Walmart in Blairsville. I am so tired of having to drive either to Dahlonega or Murphy, with gas prices so high it really adds up, not to mention the extra time it takes!

I too am for Wally World ; It will generate revenues that could ease property taxes under a different administration . I can not see present leader doing any better than he has in the past . He has set his pattern .

Every year I hear about a different place, who knows.
However, anyone who thinks it and a resort will lower taxes I am afraid is going to be disappointed.

I've lived a good many years and owned property since 1965, and I've never seen taxes LOWERED for any reason.

I don't think it would lower taxes either. I just want a nice store that has great bargains and is close by.

Me too. When I know I will be going to Wal Mart, I start making a list of things I need. Sometimes I remember to take it, other times I get in that big store and don't have the foggiest idea of what i came after. The older I get the more important "list" are.
It would be so nice just to run into town when it is fresh on my mind and pick up what I need.

Minimum wage and part-time cause only the managers get 40 hours a week. good for kids looking for an after school or weekend job. Lot's of tax breaks and other "freebies" for building in the area. TOO MUCH TRAFFIC! Yes, list are important for remembering things, when I can remember the list. I will just bet you haven't noticced this: The only windows in Wal-Mart are way up front and the only clocks you see are posted is (1) at the registers. Just like casino's, you lose track of time and stay in the store longer, buying stuff.

It will spark growth in the county. We just need to decide whether or not we want to grow any more.

I don't think the people who shop at Wal-Mart are the kind of growth, that other people are looking for. I shop there all the time because, there is nowhere else to buy affordable clothes. Where else could you get tires, tea-bags and tampons all in one stop?
