Taylor if you keep this up you will have to get a speaking program for your computer.
It's software that you train to your voice and when you get it trained you talk to the computer and it types what you say.
Of course with Gertie you would still need to edit the "language" manually, but it would still save you some time from typing.

Well, still no word from either of the publishers I queried concerning the Gran'ma Gertie book. I hope no news is good news, but now I'm not counting on it.
See if ya'll can figure out what went wrong here - I have no idea - kind of disheartening.

I would contact them back and ask if they could give me a resaon they had decided against publishing it. Tell them that "constructive criticism" would assist you in future articles.

Oh, Taylor, that IS disheartening. I had a similar thing happen to me with one of my submissions. (I'm STILL waiting to be published with my recent writings). They sent me an email telling me that they were forwarding my work to the person who will contact me soon with a contract. Then, I received an email pretty much saying "thank you, but we can't use your article right now. However, we do encourage you to continue submitting, to us, for future publication". HUH?!?! WELL, TAYLOR, we are all here telling you that you are very talented. Co-writers and non-writers alike! I know you know NOT to give up. Hang in there. And, I don't know if you read Bee's and my posts from this past week about the network and magazine contracts we should all work on! What was the name of it again, Bee? Well, we decided we want Gramma Gertie to be our main spokesperson!!!!!

Well, it seems that when one door closes, another one opens. I just got off the phone with the publisher/owner of the magazine I write Gertie for. He called me just to see how things were going, to tell me of a few changes coming in the magazine, and to give me a lead on a published author who may be able to give me some tips!
We talked for a while and then I told him of an idea for the March issue. The murder of Meredith Emerson has really been on my mind since the beginning. I want to bring this crime, and others like it, to the forefront of peoples minds. I want to get them to think, and perhaps to make some changes in our laws and how they are written. I want people to stand up and take notice of what laws are being passed, have already been passed, or are being discussed that concern firearms used for protection. I want them to take notice of how the criminals in our society are being treated, what kind of sentences they receive, and how much it cost the taxpayer every year to protect the criminals. I want them to pay closer attention to news concerning the Second Amendment.
Naturally, Meredith's story was more publicized in North Georgia than it was down here because it happened in North Georgia. But, some of the other ones he is being questioned about are in Florida and in North Carolina. There are criminals just like Gary Hilton scattered all over the US, in both large cities and small towns. If I can raise some awareness, perhaps it will make a difference.
I would like to get some input and/or opinions from ya'll who live up there. This horrible crime has touched you more than someone who is not familiar with the area simply because it was right in your own backyard. If you give me permission, I may be able to use some of your quotes. I would also like to show some good in the story such as the recent Walk For Meredith at Meeks Park. Even some photos would be great. I really want this article to be a good one. I will not use anyone's name unless you give me permission to do so.
The article needs to be finished by Feb 10th. If you want to contribute to it, please email me at taylor50_140@yahoo.com I also won't say here who contributed unless I have your permission.
The story will be in the March issue if all goes as planned.

Quote this:
Just how many chances should a murderer get? With all of the advances in DNA and evidence technology there are no more issues of wrong identity. Why do murders get 7 appeals? Why should they get to choose how humane it is when given the death penalty? Why should a low IQ factor be figured in when a criminal commits murder? We are all taught right from wrong as little children. If they run then they know it was wrong.
When people choose not to live by the same rules and laws as the rest of us do, then they need to be punished, severly. If they commit muder then they are broken and cannot be fixed.

Wow! This article is taking on a mind of it's own! I am already looking at 5-6 pages and I'm not through yet. There is simply so much to cover. Bee, I have included your quote. If anyone wants me to send the article to them when it's finished, just let me know. If I send it to you in an email, I won't be able to send the pics that will be included.
