If anyone is interested in doing a group bible study, I recommend one by Beth Moore..."A Heart Like His", Seeking the heart of God through a study of David. It is a 10 week study.
The First Baptist Church has an excellent library, open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays. This is where we got the videos for our study.
This is the 2nd one of Beth's that we have done and they are truly a blessing.

The Holy Bible: King James Version. 2000. The Psalms 37
The Insecurity of the Wicked A Psalm of David.
1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. 7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; Mt. 5.5 and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. 14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. 15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. 18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. 21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous showeth mercy, and giveth. 22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. 25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. 26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. 27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. 28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. 29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. 30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. 31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. 32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. 33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. 34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. 35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. 36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. 37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. 38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. 39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Gandhi was a Hindu, but sometimes I believe non-Christians teach us more about God than our paid ministers. Gandhi said, "God has no religion." Jesus had no religion or denomination. All he really ask is that we accept Him and follow Him. It's about Him and our relationship with Him. It is accepting HIM and His teachings. ...it's not about religion ... it's about following Jesus! It was never about religion. Rather than come to start a new religion, Jesus himself was very clear that he came to call us into a new intimacy of relationship with the Creator of the universe. If you are a Christian, Jesus paid for your sins (past, present, and future). At the moment you accepted Him, you were released from the bondage of sin. Did you know God ordained you to be a minister? "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you shall go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit shall remain, that what so ever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (KJV, John 15:16) Nobody said this would be easy, but somehow I think it's been made more difficult than it needs to be. (www.sheepcomics.com) When you go to them ... Ask God to send you to someone who wants to listen. Before you talk with someone pray silently for yourself and that person, and be sure God is urging you to speak to them. Listen to their actions and look into their eyes as you talk to them. The eyes are the window to the mind. Read between the words and ignore the words of their defense mechanism. Keep it simple, tell them your story, answer their questions (you don't have to know all the answers), and help them follow Jesus...not a religion. Meet again and again. Be a minister. But you ask, "Am I not supposed to get them into church?" Start your own little church. Start a Bible study. You are the church. Go to the Big Building if you want to. But get out of the little Holy Huddle and go to them...they won't come to you. Establish relationships with other Christians. "For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread." (KJV, 1 Corinthians 10:17) Here's something else Gandhi said... Live as if your were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Gandhi It's all about accepting HIM> www.sheepcomics.com/strips/sales/sales.htm

No matter how long we have called ourselves Christians, I think we need to keep going back to the Word and Discipleship 101. There is always something new, or at least that is my experience. I found a website on "what is the church"? I think it is a good site. It is helping me work through finding a local church. I guess I have been away from the mountains so too long...The old family church just doesn't fit anymore. It just seems to me that there is a lot of squabbling going on when we should just get down to spreading the good news. Discipleship 101 a beginner's guide to Christianity Chapter 22 What is the church? www.wcg.org/lit/disc/22church.htmQuote from above website: Unfortunately, the Christian world is divided into denominations that sometimes squabble with one another. The church is not yet perfect, since none of its members is perfect. Nevertheless, Christ wants the church to be united (John 17:21). This does not require a merger of organizations, but it does suggest a common purpose. True unity can be found only as we draw closer to Christ, preach his gospel, and live as he would. The goal is to promote him, not ourselves. The existence of different denominations has a side benefit, however: Through diverse approaches, more people are reached with the message of Christ in a way they understand. With the way things are going in the world today I've been wondering about the second coming of Christ. I know that not all Christians believe in the rapture and the second coming but this question is for the ones who do, do you all think it's very near or will things have to get much worse before it happens?

I am a christian and think the second coming is near, but I feel that things will get much worse before Christ comes back. Several things have already taken place in the book of Revelation and there is more to come.
