What a sicko this guy is. I'd heard about the head thing last night, but wasn't about to say anything about it until it came to be reported. Give me the needle & I'll inject him. No problem.

If he killed her on federal land then it will be a federal trail and he won't get the death penalty. Probably life in prison. What I want to know is WHY? ? DID HE DO IT.

I have a gun, I have the ammo, I will shoot. NO CHARGE.
What is it going to take to get these sick twisted b a s t a r d s off of our streets? How many more people have to die at their hands? How much longer will we put up with costly and lengthy trials to defend them before we start to demand some changes? How much longer before people begin to band together like old time vigilantes and take matters into their own hands because of the failures of the "system"? Scary thought, huh?

thats sad news but its better for the relatives and friends.
what surprise me is that most here have sutch feelings about the us laws. thaking the law in your hands and kill him wont make an better world, it has to have certain rules. if it cost moey or not, he is off the streets and theyr hopefully saver.
the big question is why he did it and for what reasons. had he no other chance to make an living, only kill other people that brutally? sompthing went wrong, sutch an old seasoned men should not way better. but sure we will get it in the news.
also it ssad that this happened in vogel/bville. many people all over usa that dont now us will think that muts be an terrable place. as i travel all ove rthe world i can honestly say that i have found verry nice people in that area!

www.11alive.com/news/article_news.aspx?storyid=109237The above says that she was alive for 3 days after he kidnapped her. I don't even want to think about what she endured.. The SOB asked if his jail cell was nice... being behind the safety of bars is more than he deserves!!

And yet, another possible link - www.thecrier.net/articles/2008/01/08/front/cayle.txt "As The Crier went to press, Athens-Clarke County police were scheduled to meet with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to see if Bywater’s disappearance might be linked to the alleged abduction last week of Meredith Emerson of Buford."
"North Brookhaven and Dunwoody residents said Hilton was a familiar figure around Murphey Candler park and its lakes and playing fields. Some report being threatened by him as they walked the park’s trails."
"GBI officials are also investigating connections between Hilton and the disappearance and murder four years ago of a Forsyth County hairdresser and the fatal attack last year in the north Georgia mountains on an elderly North Carolina couple."

This is the last time I will post under any of the Meredith topics. I now mute the tv when any story comes on regarding this case..
She has been found and for me to discuss her killer any further just keeps putting him in front of her.
Which is a place he doesn't need to be.
Prayers to her family.
Rest In Peace Meredith.

OK I am having to eat my words, but this needs posting
DA says Gary Michael Hilton could still face death penalty in hiker slaying
Lee Darragh, district attorney for Georgia's Northeastern Judicial Circuit, says he was not a part of any deal made with hiker slaying suspect Gary Michael Hilton, 61, to take the death penalty off the table.

Yep, I heard it was Stan that made the deal... however, if the DA prosecuting the murder case does not honor the deal that was made, the statements that were made after he was promised no death penalty may be thrown out... that means the body, the main piece of evidence, may not be admissible... Could they successfuly prosecute without any evidence that was collected after his statements? May be... Another drawback: If future criminals are given the option to cooperate to have a lesser sentence, how many do you think will cooperate if they see that the prosecution does not have to stand by its word? I am sure it was a partly a political move on the DA in Dawson County... he wants to be sure his consituents know he didn't bargain with this devil. JMHO...

Are you serious "oldbag"? So, people that have any sticker on their car with a rememberance to a person they knew or feel grief for, that's gruesome? (spelling correct)

Sometimeman, in NO way was my post meant to be taken the way you have spoken. I am removing it. There are STILL people out in this world who aren't in business to make the buck, but to really SERVE the hiking community with the knowledge and love that go with my passion, which is the trail. Someone did a good deed with thinking enough of this young lady to make these decals and sent them to us. This was my intention, & that only.
