The Meredith Hope Emerson Memorial Fund will support students studying abroad in French-speaking countries. University officials and friends says Emerson was an outstanding student of French language, literature and culture during her years at the university. She was a student there between 2001 and 2005. Emerson's body was found on January seven in a Georgia state forest. Gary Michael Hilton has been charged in the 24-year-old's beating death and decapitation. Hilton helped authorities locate her body.
