Job Interview for Commissioner.

I would ask, "What makes you feel your the best candidate for this position, why should I vote for you?" "Tell me your plans to make my community better than it was before you came into office?"

the old courthouse it took 2 days of standing in line all the way down the hall to get a tag, 2 more days standing in line to vote.. we needed a bigger courthouse...I love the new one. There was trailers all over the hill for the kids to have class in we had to have more room, so we built bigger schools, we needed them and I love the new schools!!
We had to drive to Blue ridge to get our licenses renewed now we can do it in our county.
We shared a jail with Towns county...with all the crime in our county we needed our own jail so now we have it.
I am neither Democrat or Republican , I vote for the candidate I feel will move my county forward...last election I voted for Lamar, unless someone with a better plan comes along I will vote for him this time!! ;D

2 days of standing in line to get a tag? You sure you were at the Union County Courthouse? I never had to wait over 5 minutes. I agree on the schools, putting special ed students in trailers wasn't good. It could have been done without more than doubling our taxes though. The drivers license office is a good thing also. And the jail was built before Lamar took office.

2 days was an exaggeration, all I am saying is. I work 5 days a week 11 hours a day, I don't have kids in school however I pay taxes just like everyone else. Sure my taxes are high but I see where my money is going, the projects I mentioned are things to make my life and the life of my neighbors easier. If another candidate has a better plan to handle the growth in Union County, and lower my taxes I'll vote for that candidate if he/she has a plan to move our community in a positive direction then I want to hear from that person. I don't care who a candidate sleeps with or what he/she has done in the past that has nothing to do with running our county. I'm tired of negative threads I want to know who I should vote for in the next election and why that candidate deserves my vote!!

Shortcircuit, sorry to correct you but the jail was built on Lamars' watch. It was concieved and in the works during Harold Cooks' watch but actual construction was not. Oh yea, Harold did get all the blame about the problems that followed though.

I was trying to be serious sometimeman, I really do want to know where the candidates stand on issues... unless someone comes along with a better plan than Lamar he will our commissioner again, if you want someone else in office then tell the voters , one of which is me, where your candidate stands on the issues of this fast growing county I honestly want to vote for the best man/woman!!

Pugs, as I am sure you know, Sometimeman, is for the taxpayers. He did come up with a name for our condition, cognitive dissonance. He is a smart man and very creative. Unfortunately, manapes do get a little crazy due to cognitive dissonance. That is the way the Almighty created us.

Unfortunately cognitive dissonance, will continue to exist until someone can figure out how us smart monkeys can keep our money and still provide for necessary services that we can't provide for ourselves.

The Republicans say they can have "fair and minimum taxes." They also say they can have "quality education with no child left behind." They also say the new school buildings were built for the enjoyment of the employees, implying they were unnecessary for the students. (Reference: TAX AND SPEND ANALYSIS).

I'm still wondering how the Republicans are going to do it. All Eddie wants to do is tell me how the great the Republican party is. It is a wonderful party, OK? Just tell us how you are going to practice what you preach and we I will vote for you. As pugs has said, it's as simple as that.

It seems to me most of the people that are posting here want the same thing...less taxes, a better quality of life for ourself and our families, jobs that pay enough so our young people can live and work in our community instead of moving to Atlanta/Gainesville etc.. the question that needs to be answered is who can give the people of Union County these things but allow us to keep more money in our pockets each payday! name calling doesn't sway the average voter we need to unite vote together for the right person whomever that would be this election!

Who are you campaigning for Eddie? What are his plans to bring Union County into the 21st century? From your posts I know he is a Republican...but that's all I know? Convince me he is the best candidate for the job of Commissioner of Union County!! Where does he stand on the issues? Taxes, Growth, Jobs ?
