This county would be better off with no commissioner than another 4 years of Lamar Paris and Norman Cooper .

OK folks, if you can't back it up with facts, then you don't need to post it.
What you heard or saw, needs to be dated with proof. Not I heard or I saw.
There's enough of that over on the Lamar thread.
Can't ya'll just stick to facts?
Dogs, KFC, liquor store. C'mon half of us don't believe this whether we are Lamar supporters or not.

Miss "B", Which one of these is not true or needs re wording?
1)Mr. Paris showed his behind by refusing to let the Union County Republican Party meet at the Union County Court House. 2) Mr, Paris sit up an LLC to circumvent state law and place debt on Union County Property holders. 3) Mr. Paris spent $150,000 more by taking the higer property reappraisal offer. 4) Mr. Paris lied about this and said he "saved" the $150,000. 5) Mr. Paris wrote slanderous letters about the republican partys appointment to the board of elections. 6) Mr. Paris lied about bringing alcohol to Union County.

This county would be better off with no commissioner than another 4 years of Lamar Paris and Norman Cooper . AMEN! I would be happier if just one of them would leave town!

Justin, keep your best wishes for yourself. You will need them.
By the way, just curious, on what county property that the county already owns, would you put a farmers market?

Moon, Do you mind me asking why the county (thats me) should furnish a farmers market? I'm a mechanic would you (that's the county) mind furnishing me a garage shop? Would you build it big enough so my other backyard buds would have a place to work?
By the way, just curious?, why do you always support Mr. Paris

Justin, who said we needed anyone to step forward so badly? That is only the opinion of you and the repubs and a few people on here and a few people in the community. Obviously, 80% were happy enough to vote yes for splost.
Our community has problems just like many other communities around the country but I would like to know what makes you think you are qualified to turn things around?
What specifically makes you such an expert on the Development Authority? How do you happen to have such a great understanding of what is wrong with the DA? Have you been listening too much to the great Eddie? What makes you think that men like W.C. Nelson, Tsali Bentley, and others on the DA board do not know what they are doing and you do? Perhaps you should have burned more midnight oil.

sometimeman, a lot of counties have farmers markets. Why shouldn't the county provide a farmers market?
Let's take a poll of people on here. Who is in favor of the county providing a place for a farmers market?

Manape, I already said I would show you how at a later date. And I know that I have a lot of work to do, and that the commissioners job requires a lot of work. I also know that the commissioner is the heavy favorite and that challengers must tell the voters why they deserve their vote.
Bluemoon, I've been out there talking to the citizens. And if you've been around town much, you couldn't have missed the fact that a significant number of people want change.
It is interesting that you say only the repubs want someone to step forward as according to Mr. Paris, there are over 7,000 repub voters in this county. In reality its a very non-partisan feeling.
The splost vote was not a referendum on the Commissioner, his policies or the current state of affairs.
As for the Development Authority, I've done my research. And I've already stated that we have had and do have some very brilliant minds on the Development Authority, but they have been handicapped.
I am qualified because I am willing to serve and listen to the people. The job of commissioner is challenging, yes, but it is not two levels above rocket science as some like to portray in order to scare people away from running. Reasonable intelligence and an ability to learn is what is required and there are training classes once a new commissioner is elected as well as plenty of handbooks. Not that just reading handbooks will make you good at anything. To be a great commissioner one must also have a good work ethic, common sense, and strong people skills.
I encourage anyone that thinks they could do a good job as commissioner to throw their hat in the ring and not let others intimidate you. This is America after all.
The issues that some are trying to distract from is that:
We need a more fair government
We need a commissioner who understands the needs of everyday citizens and not just rich developers.
We need a commissioner who recognize the economic needs of the county and is willing to take measures to improve it.
We need a commissioner who treats everyone with dignity even if they disagree on an issue.
We need a commissioner who works to keep taxes low every year not just one year before an election if he's feeling confident or two years if he's concerned for his chances.
As always I will give my well wishes to anyone I feel needs it. Namely those who do not seem to have a lot of inner happiness.

The county shouldn't have a farmers market because it's my money. I earned it. I want to keep it. You give me your money bleu.
Why follow the crowed, I'd rather take my poll bleu. Who is in favor of the county building Sometimeman and all his backyard buds a garage with several large bays?

Justin...
We need a commissioner who recognize the economic needs of the county and is willing to take measures to improve it.
Tell us something we don't know. Recognizing the economic needs is not enough. What's the plan man?

Sometimer I know you are being facetious, so I am not getting pissed, yet.
People who grow crops locally, and there are a lot of them, you know farmers, benefit? Food doesn't magically appear in the grocery store. They don't have a grocery fairy who waves her wand everynight and the food magically appears.
Farmers have to take those crops elsewhere to sell them. Their tax dollars support this county as much as anyone elses, THAT IS THEIR LIVING. People will drive to an area that sell's fresh produce and will spend money, even if it's higher than the grocery store. Get out and check the fact's.
Farmers market's are right up there as one of the world's oldest professions.
The sales of local crops, locally stimulate the economy. It's more healthier than store bought from who knows where and fresher.
