I am getting ready to put up some 'free' corn and some homemade vegetable soup with the rest of my family.

Yep! That's right Coosa. Free corn, free blueberries, free anything. Well there are a few free things I won't take. LOL ;D

Thanks to mine and others abundant gardens (despite the drought!) we are swimming in squash and corn - yum!

Hey there Texie glad you are here. I agree the squash and corn are doing great this year. We have had more than a plenty for us and several other families.

made pickled squish and squish relish. gonna can beans and all the extra things the good gardeners have shared with me. found a 13 page direction on line about canning. have a pressure cooker but am afraid of it so just used the steamer and stove. this will give my identity away for sure but have to share that costco has kosher salt, vinegar and large boxes of spice way cheap. also great cheese and a variety of wines. of course the hilltop package in ellijay has great wine and is closer. they even cut a 10% deal on cases. also have fabulous cigars and choice champagnes.

Whine don't be afraid of that pressure canner they are really much safer than they were way back when. They are much quicker than the hot water baths.
I will be making tomato juice tomorrow. Umm, Umm, good!

there used to be a joke floating around when I was young that the only time people locked their cars at church was July - that way the other churchgoers couldn't put squash in their car

I don't think I have ever heard that one Texie.
I haven't been out of the house today. I spent no money today and used no gas.

I had lunch at steak and shake today and found a $20 bill in the parking lot on the way out. Turned out to be a profitable lunch!

Started packing my lunch. Much cheaper and also eat less calories. Ana, over a year ago, I started making mine and my husbands breakfast and lunch every day. Some days I really get tired of it but now I'm so used to healthy food that I get a stomach ache otherwise! It has really helped my husband's blood sugar, and other issues. He does not have to use any meds.
