Update on TOM CRAWFORD

Hi everyone, Tom is my cousin and just wanted to give everyone an update on how he is doing. There are many stories going around and his sister has asked me to let everyone know how he is doing.

Tom was in a horrible motorcycle wreck Friday after leaving from work in Cherokee N.C. A women pulled out in front of him and he hit her . He was thrown through her windshield and pinned under her car. His father and Brother n law was behind him and arrived at the scene. He was flown to Ashville. The Dr's said friday night he was not going to make it. He has to have a surgery to relieve pressure on the brain. Every bone in his face is broken. He has a broke toe and a burn on his leg. Friday ngiht it did not look good. He had no brain activity. Sat morning they did a CT scan and he has little brain activity. Three Doctors are telling the family that he is prob going to be brain dead. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. Tom is responding to voices he reconizes. His mom told him to give her a thumbs up if he can hear her and he raised his thumb. I was in there sunday and when i said to him this is your favorite cuz jenn he raised his arm and leg like he was trying to hug me. He has done this a bunch to family and some friends. Paige said yesterday he wiggled his toes and flintched his eyes. He also tried to pull out his ventalator .

He has to have a surgery soon to replace the drain tubes and so on in his head so the healing process can begin. The doctors want to go in while they are in and do all the things to his face to get him looking like the tom we know. The surgery is very risky and the family had to decide if thats what they wanted done. They have decided to go ahead and it will prob take place thursday.

please pray for tom and also the family. The prayers are working. God is in control . Tom has so much to live for. The support of the family and all the friends have been wonderful and helpful for tom and also the family. Tom has a little Boy Kelly that he needs to come home to. Pray for him and spread the word.

I will try to get on here nightly and give everyone an update. Paige toms sister calls me alot during the day.

Doctors are pessimists. With God's help and a strong will, there is no limit to what man can overcome. During the coming months Tom and his family's faith and inner strength will be tested, but I believe they will pull through.

I don't know this person, but will keep him and his family in my prayers. The science of medicine is a wonderful thing, but often the doctors don't see things from the spiritual angle. Prayer is a powerful medicine!

Back in the mid-80's, my cousin and a buddy were out partying. Yes, they were both underage and stupid. The driver, (my cousin was the passenger) was going way too fast on a curve and lost it. The vehicle rolled several times. It was summer time and the windows were down. Each roll the car made, my cousin's head smacked the pavement. It was about 3 in the morning and it was probably 20 minutes before anyone called 911.
He was rushed by ambulance to Savannah to a trauma center. No helicopters were available. He "died" three times between the local ER and the trauma center. The family was told he wouldn't live, but if by some miracle he did, he would be a total vegetable as there was simply to much damage to the brain. His skull and face were crushed to the point he was unrecognizable.

He is now 36 years old, works as a supervisor for the City Water Department, is married and the step-dad to 3 kids.

Miracles do happen.

I believe that God has already performed miracles in this situation. Prayers for the family and friends of the family. I know this has to be heart breaking for them especially after they lost Jeff.

Hello everyone, Talked to Tom's brother n law kenny today and he said not much has changed. They did do another CT scan and there is still very little brain activity. They are going to do surgery but the doctors are not sure just when. We thought thursday but at this moment were not sure. They are trying to get everything planned and together. Ill let you all know as soon as I hear. In the meantime, pray...

i am sorry it has took me a while to get back to you. Tom is still the same, i talked to his sister Paige last night and he was moved to a step down unit. This is a unit one step down from what he was in. He is still critical . His surgery will be this wednesday at 3:30. Please continue to pray..
