So, what I hear you saying is cook can reduce the county budget and taxes to the levels $2,412,517 in 2000 by removing all this waste of Information Technology that makes information available to the public, taking away credit cards, and bringing back the purchasing manager that you call a department. In 2007, the budget figure was $6,453,634, according to your data. I don't disagree with your data, because the figures do not vary significantly from the 5-year figures published in the Legal Organ. That would be a budget reduction of $4,041,117.

Because you bubba and the challenger (Harold Cook whose website is remarkably similar to your post) are implying mismanagement and saying there was no reason for budget increase of over $4-M in 2007, the ball is in the challengers court to produce a budget plan plan with measurable objectives. Do you actually believe there is over $4-M waste after-Cook or is the challenger afraid to give us measurable goals an objectives?

Even if in the unlikely event that he wins, Cook does bring back purchasing, capital equipment prices don't vary significantly from vendor to vendor, gas prices do not vary significantly, and raw materials like tar, asphalt, and gravel for road maintenance don't vary significantly. I doubt if he could find enough waste to reduce the budget significantly.

Would you buy bullet proof vest, EMA/fire protection equipment, copiers, computers, vehicles for public safety, weapons, etc. based on the price of the lowest bidder? Well, you probably would. Your comparison between Google Earth and GIS is sadly technology challenged and simplistic. But what does a manape know?

Lamar Paris's ad says Low Taxes

Harold Cook's ad says Paris had 32% tax increase after election in 2000 and 40% after re-election in 2004 and will have another hugh increase if re-elected this year.

I believe Cook's ad because it IS based on fact.

I don't believe Paris's ad because it's based on fantasy.

Not only are we fighting corruption in the court house, we have to fight the local fishwrapper also. Harold puts his ad in the newspaper, I quote:"Acccording to figures compiled by the Ga Dept of Revenue, taxes levied per person here in Union County for the year 2001, was $456.50. Taxes levied per person for the year 2007 was $855.00. Union County was the only county in the state of Georgia that had a 100% increase in taxes levied per person in the seven year period that Paris has been commissioner. As a mater of record in the same seven year period Paris has raised our taxes around 150%. Elect Cook and end the tax and spend spree.

The fishwrapper lets Paris put in his question and answer column, An entire 1/2 page free answering this ad. Which his answers are "fabricated" and not the true facts. Which would lead you to believe that he has already shown this ad to Paris.

I am totally fed up with Paris and the North Georgia News. We are going to have to do something, or we will have to contend with the same crap. No voice except what the NG and Paris wants to put in the paper.

When Sylvia ran for tax commissioner she went to the NGN at the last minute before deadline with an add exposing J W Payne with a 30, 000 shortfall that she had uncovered in two yearly audits and was still not accounted for. Norman ran to JW with the information, while he held up the presses. J W took a check for 30,000 down to Harold, before press, who was commissioner then, and told Harold he had just mis-placed it in the bottom of the drawer. If nothing else he should have had to pay interest on that money for 2 years. I think this kind of manipulations are criminal but here, no one seems to care, Our blind citizens just keep electing him. Ask Harold or Sylvia about it, I bet JW won't be able to recall it.

This is not unique to Union County. It happens all over Georgia. It indicates a failure in the Judicial branch of government. The people in Atlanta say, "Let the locals handle it" When locals ask for help from their DA the DA replies, "Well if "they", meaning state government officials, want to do something they can"

As a property owner your only responsibility is pay for their graft and corruption.
I'm waiting and I hope I am alive to join in when people decide they want to correct things!

Harold needs to take his gloves out and start bringing out Liemar's wrongdoings. Cook make lots of good accomplishments in his term but he needs to focus more on Paris' wrongdoings than on his accomplishments.

I have often wondered why the Truth Squad doesn't go after the Tax Commissioner with the same energy you heap on the County Commissioner. You pregnant dog about tax and spend. You blame everything on the County Commissioner whether it is true or not. No wonder the public doesn't pay any attention to you.

Bub, you seem to have this illusion that you are informed. Perhaps you should talk to your psychiatrist about that.

You seem to have stumbled on something that we potentially agree on, though. That is, I find blairsvillecity very entertaining, but seldom informative. It would be informational if I didn't have to filter through 99.99% of the crap presented here, but BC is the cheapest form of entertainment I have ever seen. It is better than reading the National Enquirer while waiting in line at Wally-World.

I'll admit I have a Bull Crap filter that works overtime. I just don't equate BS with information on the first pass. It is the way I was trained to make decisions based on accurate data. Let me know when you understand the difference between information, real data, ethical reporting, political satire, innuendo, bias, facts, editorial comments, and opinion.

Harold Cook is the best Candidate for Commissioner and that's not BS.

All facts support Harold can handle the Commissioner's job better than Lamar.

Harold is a MUCH better and more HONEST commissioner than the present commisar.

Harold is a better financial handler of the people's money than the present commisar.

Harold does not diddle away or buy tinker toys with the people's money.

Harold explains where the money goes as opposed to Paris.

Harold knows NOT to pay the HIGHEST cost for any government service.

Harold knows where the FAT and WASTE in local government is and will eliminate it.

Harold knows where the favoritism is and will eliminate it.

Harold has enough sense not to overpay more than double for acquiring county land.

Harold knows an accountable purchasing department is the best form of accounting for the people's money.

Harold knows that supporters like the ape will always be in the pocket of the of the tax payer.

Harold knows apes don't have any sense.
