Maybe your first choice wouldn't be Harold but those other choices are gone now. We all know Harold is frugal almost to a fault. We also know our taxes won't climb any more while he has control so I for one am going to try and put an end to the insanity we see going on in our court house and support him. I hope Gene, Tony and Justin will ask their supporters to get behind Harold. This is not a party verses party contest anymore. We need someone to open our government back up again. NO ONE KNOWS what Lamar is up to. He is refusing information requests and got rid of the purchasing agent so we are all in the dark. Use your head vote for an honest man. Sonny

Sonny, I think you are on the right track. We know that Harold is an honest man. He certainly didn't line his pockets while in office, nor did he take any of the wealth with him. I for one am now talking with the other candidates and their supporters. I have received nothing but positive answers, yes, they will be voting for Harold??

It will be tough but I think we can do it. Lamar and Norm will get the propaganda machine going full force but hopefully alot of people have learned the truth and won't let a fat, bald headed man with stinky armpits influence their decision.

Fairplay, it looks like everyone is posting on the Paris' site all the good about H Cook. I did get some information from his web page www.haroldcook08.com. In the year 2000, the last year I was in office, we collected $2,412,517 and the Mill Rate was 4.80%. The first year Paris was in office he raised the mill rate to 5.30% and he collected $3,184,892; which was a 32% increase. In 2002, he cut the mileage by .01% to 5.29% mills and he collected $3,307,762; which was a 3.86% increase. In 2003, he cut the mileage rate .08% and collected $3,516,973; which was a 6.32% increase. In the year 2004, he cut another .05% from the mill rate and he collected $3,706,882; which was a 5.40% increase. In the year 2005, he raised the mill rate to 6.65% and he collected $5,178,128; which was a 39.69% increase. In the year 2006, he cut the mill rate back to 5.10% and he collected $6,188,180, which was a 19.5% increase. In 2007, he cut the mill rate back to 5.05% and he collected $6,453,634, which was a 4.29% increase. Refer to the chart below for an easy summary of the changes. YEAR MIL RATE TAX DIGEST BUDGET INCREASE OVER PERVIOUS YEAR POPULATION TAXES PER PERSON COMMISSIONER 2000 4.80% $502,607,678 $2,412,517 17,902 $134.76 Cook 2001 5.30% 600,923,019 $3,184,892 32% Paris 2002 5.29% 625,285,783 $3,307,762 3.86% Paris 2003 5.21% 676,340,923 $3,516,973 6.32% Paris 2004 5.16% 719,782,973 $3,706,882 5.4% Paris 2005 6.65% 778,665,846 $5,178,128 39.69% Paris 2006 5.10% 1,213,368,726 $6,188,180 19.5% Paris 2007 5.05% 1,277,947,326 $6,453,634 4.29% 21,500 $300.16 Paris Paris has said that he lowered your taxes. However, going from $2,412,517 to a total of $6,553,634 in taxes collected is not a cut, but an increase. During his term, there has been a 124% increase in taxes per person; averaging, 17% a year. This is far more than inflation and salary increases. When I went into office the mill rate was 5.86% and when I left office the mill rate was 4.80%. We cut approx $500,000 per year out of the taxes collected. This is an actual tax cut and the numbers prove it. According to Georgia Department of Revenue Web Site, the 7 years Paris has been in office, Union County ranks 5th out of 159 counties in percentage increase in property taxes per person. This information is based on the collection of tax information from all counties within our state. In 2000, the property value for Union County was $502,607,678. In 2007, Paris had increased the property value to $ 1,277,947,327. By increasing property values he increased taxes and the money came out of your pockets. Learn more about our local economy and what I plan to do to help families in our community.

Past performance is not a future prediction of performance. $5000/per year sounds like a lot of money to me, but how did he do that? As Sonny says, "We all know Harold is frugal to a fault.

Well Bubba, I think you have finally done it to Paris. I looked at his web site today, and lo and behold. He has posted his own charts and figures, this way he thinks he can sway the people, because he thinks the UC People can't read and understand. I'm hoping they can see thru his smoke screen.
