"i have an email from Lamar Paris " And when is that email dated? I'll have to look on my work computer rather than my home one but it was during this current term if that's what you're getting at.

"but it was during this current term if that's what you're getting at."
It is indeed in the area of what I was getting at, and it couldn't have been during his current term or your earlier statement of "I voted for him last time because of that promise and one other promise. " wouldn't be true.

As you have said, Bill, you've only known Lamar for a short time. His charms do work for a while. The new people moving in that do not know him or who have been here a while and haven't been paying attention to politics, are his base. Once you really get to know him and his arrogance, his deep rooted anger, and his vindictive streak, then you begin to see him for what he is. Then you begin to notice when he is lying and thereafter it becomes very obvious.

"Well, how 'bout it Bill?"
I'm curious for Country to show the date and content of the email. Our commissioner didn't say it to me, and hearsay (especially in an Internet forum) isn't worth the time it takes to recount it.

I really don't have any say in this because I don't live there, but I'm against huge business growth in the N. Georgia mountains. When does it stop or does it ever? When will the big mall's hit your area?It takes away from the main reason I love coming to the mountains

" wouldn't be true. you misconstrued my words for your own pleasure, sir. Let me say it again with further clarity. Lamar, while running for office last time stated to me and many others that he was against walmart. period. against it. no matter what. said he felt like it would change the nature of our town and the businesses here. this was said in a semi-public situation. I then voted for him. THEN... there was talk around town of walmart coming. I again asked Lamar about it and he claimed he was against it. Then I received an email from a state level person and that email made me think Lamar had changed his position. I emailed Lamar. He affirmed his position against it. I saved the email. This was after he was elected. How should I produce it? Should I be afraid I will have reprocussions about continuing to go against him? People have said it's not the best thing to do when you're in business and I'm inclined to agree. Bu if I get the guts - or fell the need to - how do I prove this email to you?

Look at Helen, which is now gasping for breath. Look at Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Whoever wants that doesn't want what is best for our county.
Folks were attracted to the area because of the ambiance and the feeling of getting away from it all. Now they want it all.
They loved the tranquility, the simpleness of life, the wide open spaces, the views.
Soon all that will be gone. Of course look on the bright side, once we turn into a large city with conveniences, they will move somewhere else and take over.
Kind of like locust.

I still like hitting Helen when I plan a trip to the mountains. My 1 must stop place is Betty's grocery store.I don't know what it is about the place but everytime I visit it,it puts me in a good mood.I guess it's the atmosphere of the store.Other than Betty's,I really don't venture in any of the other stores in Helen anymore.

I'm with you CF98. The only thing worthwhile in Helen is Betty's and tubin' down the river on a hot day!
