The supporters of Paris are tired of seeing Paris' dirty laundry being exposed to the public, they want it kept in the hamper. I'm tired of it myself.
I'm tired of the smell, I'm tired of the sight, and I'm tired of the ones who refuse to clean it.
Paris himself should clean his laundry, with an extra dose of clorox, but he refuses and still hangs it in public. And his supporters still marvel at it and say, "Ain't it wonderful".
Until Paris cleans his dirty laundry, I will keep shining the light on it.

Paris in this weeks paid ad in the sorry paper:
LOW TAXES--Still claims one of the lowest taxes in the State because he still thinks low millage equals low taxes. In an ideal environment where properties are equally assessed with no favoritism shown to certain people, low millage would equal low taxes. Other counties have no similarity with Union County as regards assessments and equalization. We do not live in an ideal environment partly because of Paris and because Union has one of the highest assessed values in the State. This is why per capita is a better method of comparison.
He also claims he has lowered the budget, but yet when one sees the published budget it keeps on going up year to year so I guess it's ok for Paris to say one thing out of his mouth and another to blow hot air out the other end.
LESS SPENDING-Paris claims he is against big spending but his record shows otherwise. It shows he is the 5th highest in per capita tax increase out of 159 counties in Georgia.
Balanced Budgets--He says he has had 7 straight balanced budgets and audits. If you believe him on other things you probably will believe him on this. His audits only deal in generalities and fail to inform where the money was spent or even if it was spent.
Economic Development--He says he will continue to aggressively look for more and better jobs.
He's been looking for 7 years and not much luck. At the rate he brings good jobs to Union County the work force will be over the hill on medicare or more likely on medicaid.
Grants--He says the County has got over $6 milloin in grants over the last 4 years. This begs the same question as the splost funds, WHERE DID THE MONEY GO?
Only a courthouse additon to show for the money and it had a 75% cost overrun on the budget.
Employees---He says Union has one of the best group of Employees. This may be the only true statement in his ad. I would say they are good in spite of Paris, not because of him.
Free space for Cook to list counties that have lower taxes to live in--
If you have a home valued at $200,000 in Union County you can just about be assured it will be valued around $140 to $150,000 in most other counties. At a the low mill rate Paris brags on, the taxes will be about equal with most other counties having higher mill rates, but with the Paris increases we pay more in tax dollars than other counties.
IN Union County, as in most Georgia counties, there are favored ones who get lower assessments and also get favored exemptions that most citizens of the counties don't get. So fair and equal don't really count from county to county. Paris knows this and most of the ones getting the tax breaks know it. This is why per capita is more accurate in county to county comparisons than millage comparisons.

APE, We need you. We need each other. Union County needs better.
As much as I hate to say it.....we need Lamar, not as commissioner. He has forfeited that but we need him...ONLY.... after he repents!
Without the support of each other, we will all be overwhelmed and perish.

""Accept it or reject it; you have to know it.""
My exact thoughts; and once you know it you need to express it, whether you accept or reject, so that others may know where you stand. (truth, that is)

The commisar said in this weeks NGN, in his PAID ad, he lowered the county budget despite huge cost.
First off, the part of the budget from property taxes went UP and has gone up every year Paris has been in office.
The part of the budget that went down came from lower than expected fees, permits, the county's share of gasoline taxes, real estate transfer taxes , and other items.
Paris DID NOT lower the budget from these items; he would have you believe he is a frugal spender of county money but the economy and less revenue from the above items is what lowered the budget.
Paris has never lowered anything! all he has ever done is increase spending. If re-elected you are guaranteed a tax increase next year to make up for the short-fall caused by Lamar Paris because he has HUGE cost to remedy from his own mis-management.

The commisars FREE AD, CALLED THE Q&A, in this weeks rag of a paper is about buying gas in the county instead of looking for better prices elsewhere. Also about spending all your money in Union County.
See my above post; the reason he's asking people to buy gas in the county is because of the lost county revenue from gas taxes. If he wasn't such a big spender of taxpayers money, the county wouldn't be in the fix it's in.
Proves my post above this one.
While I'm in agreement with spending money at home, I'm not in agreement with a wasteful spending Commissioner. I'm not in agreement with a commissioner that tells untruths to fool the electorate.

So much for the frugality and wisdom of our commissioner. His right hand azz kisser let the cat out of the bag at a civic meeting the other night. With this county needing so many things such as paving those 100 miles of roads that no one can find. The library that was supposed to be improved with the last splosh would be one of the better places to start. With the economy down the tubes and everybody scared for their very wellbeing, guess what is his first choice? THE 30 ACRES across from Meeks park. He has already signed and sealed the contract. Not registered in Allen’s office yet. Could it be that he is hiding the purchase from the public until after the election? Naw our honest truthful commissioner wouldn’t do anything that deceitful, or would he? He had to borrow money to buy a piece of property that’s appraised by his own private, bought and paid for appraiser at 1/3 of the million dollars that he is paying for it. Ask your selves folks. Why? Be a nice deal to get some kind of a under the table payoff wouldn’t it?

bubble--
I've said from the get-go that Paris would buy the 30 acres first and second will be the new golf pro shop.
People like Paris can't change his stripes, all one has to do is mark his trail and a blind man can get to where Paris will go.
Everything else in the county can fall apart but Paris will get his new playtoys.

More Breaking News from BC.comWill the Real Lamar Paris stand up? Is Mr. Paris using a double? Paris was seen at the Sorghum parade before it began but the county Paris mobile was seen leaving. Paris's parade car, however made the rounds with a man of similar appearance perched in the car, with a green cap pulled over his head saying 'eat mor chiken'. This person appeared to be announced as Commissioner Paris and those in attendance seemed to have the impression that it was. But pictures of his car, clearly show that Paris was not on the car. Perhaps there is another explanation but for now the rumors are swirling.

The pic you posted has ONE similarity that is an exact replica of Paris, and that is the smile. It looks exactly like his pic in his paid ads in the fishwrapper. Is he trying to out smile Jenkins?

Sorry folks, but you knew it was coming. Repost time.
Per Capita numbers show differences more accurately than millage comparisons. Millage comparisons only show same PROPERTY VALUE tax. It does NOT show Irregularities in PROPERTY VALUE county to county and, within the county, of favored citizens by the courthouse crowd and disparities of property Equalization. Millage only shows a false assumption of low tax in Union County compared to other counties. Per Capita shows the real comparison rate and is used by many other government bodies and private industry.
THE COMMISAR AND HIS SUPPORTERS SAY PER CAPITA TAXES DO NOT REFLECT ACTUAL TAXES AND PARIS GOES ON TO SAY THE NUMBER REFLECTS BOTH LOCAL AND SCHOOLS. HE IS RIGHT, IT DOES REFLECT BOTH TAXING AUTHORITIES. SO LET'S SEE WHICH TAXING AUTHORITY HAS INCREASED TAXES THE MOST IN UNION COUNTY, LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR SCHOOLS. HERE ARE THE NUMBERS FOR YEAR 2000 AND YEAR 2005.
TAXES LEVIED PER PERSON-------COUNTY-------MILL RATE FROM 2000 REPORT $456.50-----------------------UNION---------13.6 TOTAL LOCAL AND SCHOOLS
TAXES LEVIED PER PERSON-------COUNTY--------MILL RATE FROM 2007 REPORT $855--------------------------UNION---------14.229 TOTAL LOCAL AND SCHOOLS
2000 TAXES LEVIED PER PERSON-------COUNTY-------MILL RATE FROM 2000 REPORT $456.50-----------------------UNION---------13.6 TOTAL MILLS $166------------County Government Only-----MILL RATE 4.8 $290.50---------COUNTY SCHOOLS ONLY--------MILL RATE 8.8
FOR YEAR 2000, SCHOOLS MADE UP 63.7% OF TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT MADE UP 36.3% OF TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES.
2005 TAXES LEVIED PER PERSON-------COUNTY--------MILL RATE FROM 2007 REPORT $855--------------------------UNION---------14.229 TOTAL MILLS $400--------------COUNTY GOVERNMENT ONLY----MILL RATE 6.65 $455--------------COUNTY SCHOOLS ONLY-------MILL RATE 7.759
FOR YEAR 2005 SCHOOLS MADE UP 53.3% OF TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT MADE UP 46.7% OF PROPERTY TAXES.
Anyone can see very easily that Local Government under PARIS has had an EXPLOSION in taxes and no NEW services to show for it. Anyone can see that TAXES PER CAPITA ARE A VERY RELIABLE INDICATOR of how much taxes are, and which authority is doing the taxing.
