We had a 10 minute shower this afternoon. Just enough to get the dust washed off and settled down.

So how's the weather down your way? We have been getting a few afternoon thunderstorms. Unfortunately at my house it has been more storm than rain.

Stormed around us all day today in the city. Got in a couple of showers while driving near Jimmy Carter Blvd. Heard that we got some good rain here and quite a bit of storming while we were gone.

It was just plain hot today, I only had to work outside for about 30 minutes outside this evening. I feel sorry for the people who work on roofing and paving crews.

Even as a child I hated the heat. I have tremendous respect for people who have to work outside. Especially when the heat and the humidity is so high!

I had my fair share of working in the heat many years ago and I sure don't miss it one bit.You got to give them guys credit that work out in this stuff every day.I've been out in the yard today pulling more weeds and spreading new pine straw and it's amazing how quickly that heat can zap you.

did anyone hear that we (Union County) have now moved from the EXTREME to the EXCEPTIONAL category in terms of drought? This is really bad news. Our streams, rivers and lakes are officially in danger. Oddly enough, Fannin County was not mentioned - they must have had more rain over in Blue Ridge...

Crazy isn't it? It is strange how that sort of thing works. We had rain here for about 30 minutes this afternoon. In the beginning it rained really hard with lots of wind and lightening. Near the end it was just a nice summer shower.

Seems like the last weeks of dog days will be parched.

oddly enough there was a cool breeze through our valley this evening even though the temp gauge did not reflect that! I can't get enough energy to water all my hanging baskets - I know that sounds lazy! I'm praying for RAIN !!!!!!!!!!

Prayers for all those in Florida. My prayer is that all will be safe and material damage will be minimal.

And hopefully we'll get a little rain from that storm.
