Went to county meeting last night.Few showed up. no one showed out.I saw about equal number Republicans as Demoncrats.Lamar spoke of only more of your money to be spent. He did not mention saving money or any cutting of taxes.Very sad but true.

I read Ga.constitution and conclude sole county comm. to be in conflict with constitution. One person should not make laws and also have power to enforce law.Nor should one and same have power to levy and collect taxes. He has power to tax your home and property untill you can not pay;and then take your home.Sad but true.

Of course we'd like to know. Possible waste: The grossly overbudget court house?

Thanks manape, I was wondering if anyone liked anything that Lamar has done, all I see is what most ACCUSE him of doing. I think he's done a pretty good job. I know for a fact he doesn't do anything that will make people mad at him on purpose. I disagree with that, someone in his position can't please everybody and I wouldn't try. I would do the best I could for the most I could.

I haven't said anything bad about anyone but Newt Gringrich. I would not want Lamar's job and I said that plenty of times.
Hey mac give me credit for you so I can get a free mea at the Griddle.

Manape; how can a statement of fact be false ?

To commit libel, there must be malicious intent, and damages must be able to be proved. It is nearly impossible to be convicted of libel or slander against a public figure in Georgia. Public figures include elected officials and members of the media amongst others. There are some criticisms of Lamar, but when you have an official that has as much power as he does, that is to be expected. The President faces just as much scrutiny on a national level if not more, and the Governor faces as much at the State level. If you like the Commissioner, by all means post positive comments about him, rather than just criticizing others for criticizing Lamar. But that's just a suggestion.

"Generally, defamation is a false and unprivileged statement of fact"
A statement of fact is a statement of fact. It cannot be false if it is stating the facts.

Manape- According to published statements, Lamar Paris paid $158,000 more than the next lowest bid to have Union County property reappraised. According to statements attributed to Lamar himself, he does not comply with Georgia Law ad publish a statement showing the Amount of Union County debt, the number of delinquent tax payers and the total amount of delinquency.
If Lamar governed Union County according to the Georgia Law, these folks would leave him alone. Lamar violates his oath of office by NOT ACTING in the best interest of the people of Union County. Because published statements indicate he is in violation of his oath, the Governor can at will remove him from office. All that is needed is a complaint to be filed and enough people to support it. Do you support open honest and fair Government for Union County? If you do then tell Lamar to comply with the Law.

O.C.G.A. 36-1-6 and 45-11-1 for starters. I guess "these folks" would be people like the ones who bought the news paper ad saying Lamar was a liar and printed what he said and then and signed their name to it. They must mean business! They had to spend money to do it. Would you like to make a contribution to print more ads of this type?

Yes the Lord is good ;and he does not love ugly . How could Paris comply with a law he was totally ignorant of? See opening page . After seeing law and not liking law ; he is trying to get said law changed . See other Paris letters and exchanges on this site . What will not be shown on this site is material that may very well be used against Paris in a court of real jusitce.
